Who We Are and What This Policy Covers
Techon Solution LLC operates FamilyFence. This policy applies to the FamilyFence website, the FamilyFence ParentControl app for parents and guardians on Android, and the FamilyFence Kid app for supervised Android devices (together, the "Service"). It explains what data the Service processes, why, and the choices available to you.
FamilyFence is for parents and legal guardians supervising a child device they own or are legally authorized to manage. The Child App is intended to remain visible on the supervised device. Do not use FamilyFence to monitor an adult, or a device or person without lawful authority and appropriate notice or consent.
Data Collected by FamilyFence ParentControl
The Parent App processes the information needed to create, sign in to, and manage a family account. This includes a parent email address, sign-in credentials or Google Sign-In token when that option is used, parent profile and contact details, family and child identifiers, and the profile details you choose to add for a child or Parent Connect profile. Parent Connect may process profile photos, connection requests, conversations, messages, read status, and related account identifiers when you use those features.
The Parent App also processes its device identifier, app and operating-system version, language, time zone, push-notification token, and notification settings. When you use family maps or choose to share your location, it processes your current location and the related map information. Camera and photo-library access is used only when you choose a profile image or photo in a Parent Connect flow.
To manage a subscription, we process the selected plan, subscription status, store or processor transaction identifiers, order or receipt information, and entitlement status. Payment credentials are handled by the applicable app store or authorized payment processor; FamilyFence does not store full payment-card numbers.
Data Collected by FamilyFence Kid
The Child App processes a child-device identifier; family and child identifiers; device manufacturer, model, name, operating-system and app version; language and time zone; battery, network-signal, and Wi-Fi-name status; push token; and the device's available permissions and protection status. We use this information to pair the device, show its status to the authorized parent, and keep the protection service working.
After the person setting up the supervised device accepts the separate in-app Installed Apps Disclosure, the Child App collects and transmits installed-app information to FamilyFence servers. This information includes app name, package identifier, category, icon, size, installation or removal status, and related timestamps. Collection can continue in the background when an app is installed, updated, or removed. We use this information to show the authenticated parent or guardian linked to the child profile which apps are installed and to provide app blocking, daily limits, launcher controls, and app installation alerts. FamilyFence hosting and application service providers process this information only as needed to operate these features. The Child App does not begin a new installed-app scan or upload installed-app information before this in-app consent is granted.
The Child App also processes app-usage and screen-time records, daily limits, schedules, restricted-app and feature-control settings, instant-block status, and related alert events.
When location or safety features are enabled and the required device permissions are granted, the Child App processes precise location, location history, address, accuracy, distance, speed, trip or activity type, and SOS or overspeed events. The Parent App can show this information to the authorized family account.
Online Activity, Communications, and Safety Features
For enabled YouTube monitoring, the Child App processes activity records such as the video title, URL or domain, video identifier, thumbnail reference, category, source app, date or time, and visit count. The Child App uses an Android VPN configuration with selected DNS resolvers to apply safe-internet and internet-blocking controls. DNS resolvers may process the domain queries needed to provide that filtering.
When a parent enables social-communications monitoring and grants the relevant Android Accessibility Service or notification-access permission, the Child App may read text visible in supported messaging interfaces or incoming notifications. The records can include the supported app name, contact or conversation label, message text, date or time, and sent or received status. This currently includes supported services such as WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business, Instagram, BiP, and certain Android messaging apps. These records are stored locally on the supervised device to support the enabled monitoring feature.
If media-safety detection is enabled and media access is granted, the Child App scans newly created images on the device using an on-device classifier. Images that do not meet the detection threshold are deleted from the detection workflow. If an image is flagged, the app uploads the flagged image and detection metadata, such as detection time, confidence, severity, source type, and source-app information, so the authorized parent can review the safety event.
The Child App may also request access to contacts, SMS, or call-log information for optional child-safety features. Only enable a permission when you intend to use the associated feature. An emergency contact number entered during setup is stored for the emergency-contact flow.
How We Use Information
We use the data described above to authenticate and secure accounts; pair parent and child devices; apply app, screen-time, schedule, web-filtering, and device-protection rules; provide family maps and safety alerts; display reports and safety events; deliver notifications; provide Parent Connect and support; process subscriptions; diagnose errors; and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized use.
Permissions and Your Controls
The Parent App may request location, camera, photos, and notification permissions. The Child App may request device-administration, usage-access, accessibility, notification, location, media, contacts, activity-recognition, VPN, overlay, and related Android permissions needed for the features you enable. You can review or revoke many permissions in the operating-system settings. Disabling a required permission may limit or stop the corresponding FamilyFence feature.
Service Providers and Data Sharing
We share data with providers that help operate the Service: our FamilyFence application API and hosting providers; Google services for Google Sign-In, Maps, Firebase Cloud Messaging, app analytics or performance, and crash diagnostics; Crisp for support chat; the applicable app store or payment processor for purchases; and DNS resolvers selected for the Child App's filtering feature. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices and only as needed to provide their services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights, safety, and security of families or the Service, or in connection with a business transaction. We do not sell personal information or use child-device data for behavioral advertising.
Local Storage, Retention, and Deletion
The apps keep account sessions, cached family information, device-control settings, and some pending sync records on the device so the Service can operate reliably. For example, installed-app records accepted for collection can remain locally until synchronization succeeds, and a flagged media-safety event can remain on the Child App until upload succeeds or the event is cleared. We retain server-side data, including installed-app inventory and installation-status records, only for as long as needed to operate the Service, provide support, meet legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Installed-app records associated with a child profile are removed through the account-deletion process described below, subject to any limited legal or security retention requirement.
You can permanently delete an account and associated family data through our secure account deletion page. The deletion flow removes the parent account and associated family, child-device, subscription, controls, activity, location, notification, and Parent Connect data described there. We may retain a minimal deletion audit record and information we are legally required to keep.
Children's Privacy
FamilyFence is not a service for children to set up independently. The adult setting up the Service is responsible for confirming their authority to supervise the device, providing any notice or consent required by applicable law, and explaining age-appropriate monitoring to the child. We do not sell children's personal information.
Security and Changes to This Policy
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Service data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We may update this policy when the Service or applicable requirements change; the revised policy will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date.
